Just finished putting together the production for the new silk collection. The silk will be hand woven with a motive (as always) but much thinner than the previous silk sarongs, the scarves will be smaller as well (180x50 cm) . In Cashmere I work starting with the motives and create them first in dark grey to see if the design works, needs improvement or if it’s a disaster beyond repair. It’s only once I have finished with the design that I decide which colour they look best in. Like the giant rose which looks to me the most interesting in chilly red and only really works in that colour.

In silk it's the reverse, I start with the colors and the colour combinations and then I decide on the motives. In the silk the colors are so strong in combination together with the texture of the silk it gets a 3 dimensional effect that color dominates the design. In Batik color combinations turn out differently then imagined. As one color tops the previous color. The results are very beautiful but full of surprises!
