Use many motives to test a new material!

To test a new type of material, the best is to take a handful of motives and colour it dark grey. This way one can see what works best, regarding texture colour etc. At the same time the result is rather decorative and fun! This material is very promising!

Beautiful DEDEM hand-printed velvet for the interior

Just send 10 meters of amazing hand-printed velvet. The colour is so different and rich. The motive is simple but so strong. Really happy with this result, it will make a dramatic change to any interior.
I hope Odette Welvaars will love it as well as she ordered this.

A special order for a dining room. Very satisfying to give those linens a new lease of life.

A special order for a dining room.
The heavy French linen does really justice to the colour. Very satisfying to give those linens a new lease of life.
It will look amazing in the dining room with the table cloth together with cushions of the chairs.
One could call this a very sophisticated way of recycling!

DEDEM CREATIONS 'the art of topping colours'

Topping colours is a great adventure, as the result remains a surprise. Colours tend to behave very different than anticipated. A lot of experiments are needed and once in awhile you have a hit!
Working on a special project, we got very good result in different patterns.

How to organise several meals, same guests, same napkins!

How to organise several meals, same guests, same napkins!
DEDEM Creatons, played with the same motives but different layouts. Result, 12 napkins in same colour same motives, but different display. This way everybody can keep their own napkin, without any difficulties. Looks better than different coloured ones which looks too much!
Great solution!

New motive, a well balanced mix between between organic and geometric

New motive, a well balanced mix between organic and geometric. Also a happy mariage between a Javanese tradition and a French tradition!

DEDEM Creations latest designs on old French linen!

New box was delivered full of new surprises. The French old linen works so well with the motives and various colours. They become really fabulous pieces. And so multifunctional! When it's really hot I use them as cover sheet, as they don't slide, so comfortable!

It's certain that a white tablecloth for outdoors is not a good idea!

Spring has arrived during max. 5 days we have this marvellous white wisteria in full bloom. Apart from the beauty its perfume is very delicate and refined, spring has really begun.
It's the time outdoor lunches and dinners starts. It's certain that a white tablecloth for outdoors is not a good idea. One needs colour and motive to make it alive!

Next phase for the DEDEM velvet collection

After first trial and getting exceptional good feedback on the DEDEM velvet for Interiors, DEDEM Creations is producing the next set of samples. Using 2 colours as well.
This collection will be dedicated to my dear friend and inspirator Jaya Ibrahim. As it was he who pushed me to try this experiment, which turns out to be brilliant!
Images will follow shortly.

Visit to the TextielLab, Tilburg the Netherlands

Was introduced by Ellen Sillekens to the TextielLab in Tilburg. Very interesting discovery, lot of potential. Was there to see if there are possibilities to develop special linen for one of Jaya Ibrahim's projects.
Simply adored the place and would love to do a project there. Met with Stef Miero, who is responsible for the weaving. All in all very professional!

With Ellen Sillekens the discussion was at high speed covering as many aspects of Textiles in the widest sense of the word. Afterwards my head was bursting with ideas and possibilities.

Batik on velvet for upholstery has become a possibility!

Batik on velvet for upholstery has become a possibility!
Just received the 1st experiments. It looks wonderful.
Velvet is very sensuous and rich, but at the same time often a bit old hat or too heavy. With the batik it's something very different and very contemporary. Lots of potential.
Will be continued......

Collaboration with Jaya Ibrahim Pratomo continues.

When working with Jaya it’s always a challenge. Batik on velvet is a result of one of his challenges. During our working sessions he will declare ‘would love to have batik on velvet’.  This is an example of something which turns out to be brilliant.
Currently working his next Jaya furniture collection with beautiful old french linen as upholstery with a bold motive, a true mixture of cultures.
Next idea/project is to do batik on jacquard woven linen, which could be brilliant as well as it gives it a 3 dimensional effect!
Even better to create our own motives in Jacquard!  To be continued!
