Just spend 2 days pruning Box plants. Buis de France.com has a large collection of different sizes, and shapes. Those fields with all those different buis, which are pruned once a year to structure their forms, and slowly they reach their perfect form!
It's fascinating as one becomes a sculpture and at the same time this deep respect for the beauty of the Buis. Some of them are more than 4o years. By pruning them annually they have become very sturdy and full of energy. The proof is that this summer's high temperatures and drought didn't affect them very much.

Source of inspiration in the Austrian countryside

Driving through Austria I cam across those incredible wooden structures south of Salzburg. The neatness and the rhythm is extraordinary.  

The Islamic Art Department, Le Louvre Paris

In Paris I visited the new Islamic Art Department in le Louvre. I really enjoyed it, worth a visit!
Like always when looking at ancient art, whatever the culture that are some items which are so contemporary. It really makes one humble, don't have the illusion you are creating something new, it's more a  reinterpretation or reinvention of something which was done long ago! Even if one is not always aware of it.
However, the pleasure of creating remains despite this awareness.

A French tradition source of inspiration

Last Sunday I went to a brocante in Touchay, which is a tiny charming village with an annual brocante. I found very nice linen in different shapes and sizes which gives a lot of ideas what to do with it and which motive. But what I found even more interesting is the different clothing and 'working clothes' France has a great tradition until today for uniforms etc. They are well designed and cut. I use this as a source of inspiration for DEDEM capsule collection which is comfortable leisure wear in cotton, linen, silk or cashmere. This collection will be part of the DEDEM WEBstore (October 2012).
