A special order for a dining room. Very satisfying to give those linens a new lease of life.

A special order for a dining room.
The heavy French linen does really justice to the colour. Very satisfying to give those linens a new lease of life.
It will look amazing in the dining room with the table cloth together with cushions of the chairs.
One could call this a very sophisticated way of recycling!

The impact of orange!

Orange is an interesting color as it can be so cheap and bad taste, and it can be very chic. My little orange tool bag looked very chic with the grey DEDEM coat at the races in Deauville. Especially in that sort of environment orange leather gives certain associations! It added playfulness and a sense of humor.
At the fish-market of Trouville the platter of 'fruits de mer' looked far more attractive with the orange of the shrimps and of course the lemon. The platter became cheerful.
I have a soft spot for orange but one has to be very careful when and how to use!

DEDEM working on vivid colors for the interior

Working on some new projects. This time colors are a very important part of the design, they need to be vivid and strong. We are also in the process of combining vivid colors on linen.
We are eagerly waiting for those results, more to follow.

Best source of inspiration

The end of summer has arrived, the sun is still warm but the wind is already fresh and colors are changing. As always it's nature which is the source of inspiration for colors. This fresh turquoise with green and a little bit of violet is just stunning. Hope it will be still around in October so we can use it for decoration for the DEDEM party.

New Blue

A new Blue from Java arrived. Used already on the 100% silk I decided it would be interesting to try it on the cashmere as well as the linen and the results are magic. It's blue like the blue on Chinese porcelain. It's a blue, which consist of several blues. The textiles are on a table of tiles and the color is poured over and then left to soak. So it's not an even blue and yet it's. It's a very warm blue and on the linen it becomes graphic. All in all I am more than happy with the result!

colours at Deauville

Spend this weekend in Deauville with friends. On Saturday morning I went very early to the beach which was still empty, apart from some men of a certain age with their black Labrador. The sand all clean with the umbrella's it's a beautiful example of the right rhythm in combination with color.

colours

After 10 days of rain, builders in the house and a lot of administration to finish I start to receive new pieces and they are all beautiful! A feast to open the box from Java. I love the 'repair' work they did on those pieces. In batik you can print over the old print when you don't like the 1st result. It's a risk but sometimes it turns out stunning!

originally yellow, a serious mistake now fabulous!

Yellow

In Spring I was inspired by the yellow of the colza fields with a dark grey sky just before a thunderstorm. I decided to use this colour combination in the new collection. This is the result. I like it as it's different and very strong but flattering when one wears it. Very good for men.

3 colours cashmere/silk

After some experimenting found the way to create 3 colours in cashmere silk and how to use yellow in combination with other colours. I am really happy with the result, fresh and vivid. I will put them in the next collection.

silk colour experiments

Running some colour experiments on hand woven silk. Some of them turned out very well! It's now a question of finding the right motive to go with it! This will be step 2 in the creation of the next silk collection.

Colours at La Feria del Caballo

Just back from a week in Andalusia. I attended La Feria del Caballo in Jerez de la Fonterra. The Feria is all about colour, the more vivid the better. In every field one sees the sense of colour they have. In their display of sweets, the way they dress, the way the dress up their horses, the display in the textile shops, etc.

Spring and colours

Spring is a fantastic season to rediscover colour. Colours come out everywhere and very daring. Even in an ugly area along the motorway in Holland between Amsterdam Leiden, the bulb fields in between local industrial zones are stunning. Or Yellow for example is a colour which is difficult to use but very tempting once one sees the fields with colza, the question is to combine with which colours. After reflecting about this I found it, yellow with the grey of sky just before a thunderstorm! Will use this colour combination in my next collection!

Lilac and green is another beautiful combination, so rich!

Green is the most important colour for spring! As it's fresh! While dark green kills every colour next to it. Every spring I am surprised by all the different greens.

The importance of white

The importance of white! Because of his white hair, strong vivid colours suit him extremely well. Pierre younger with dark hair would not have been able to wear the same colour combination! He is wearing a batik linen jacket created especially for him by DEDEM.
