The big advantage of living in the center of France you are relatively close to everything. Just spend a few days in Aubrac, it's great for fly fishing and hiking, it's very fresh in summer as it's a plateau at 1100 altitude. The landscape is breathtaking, the villages are beautiful where ever one goes. Very interesting shopping as well food-wise as well as for clothes. Found a great big cape, originally worn by shepherds. There is a label called www.lelaboureur.fr which produces traditional clothing, which sounds very boring but one finds fantastic items for daily wear as they are so well cut! Mellencamp for leather goods is more than excellent, the leather is excellent quality. Their trousers are very well cut. Prices reasonable!
We stayed in St Urcize in Hotel Remise which a very nice place to stay, well run family business!
